The Story
Nissan Dubai, a major automotive player in the Gulf region, struggled with manual, error-prone tracking of over 10,000 unique assets, leading to significant operational downtime. Clavis Tech helped the automotive giant by implementing the Asset Management System (AMS), a hardware-software integrated solution featuring high-speed thermal printing, handheld scanning, and Active Directory synchronization.
The partnership transformed Nissanβs inventory into an intelligent, real-time ecosystem, slashing asset scanning and access management time by 80% while ensuring 100% accountability.
The Challenge
As a pivotal hub for vehicle distribution and service in the Gulf region, Nissan Dubai operates in a high-velocity environment where 10,000+ physical and digital assets must be ready for on-demand allocation.
The existing workflow was running on legacy administration. Asset tracking relied on manual spreadsheets and physical back-and-forth between field sites and back offices. Every new asset required a manual barcode generation process that forced staff to commute between locations just to print and attach tags. This approach created massive bottlenecks in equipment allocation and access control.
Without a fix, Nissan faced mounting shadow inventoryβassets that existed but couldn’t be located or verified. This led to unnecessary procurement costs, security vulnerabilities in access management, and a significant drain on employee productivity that threatened their operational agility in a competitive market.
The Solution
To resolve Nissan Dubaiβs operational friction, Clavis Tech architected a mobility-first roadmap that brought the system directly to the asset. We recognized that the true challenge wasn’t just tracking, but the physical “handshake” between hardware and software.
Clavis Tech bridged this gap by providing an end-to-end ecosystem that integrated industrial-grade Zebra hardware with a sophisticated web-based platform, leveraging our proprietary methodology to ensure the solution integrated natively with Nissanβs existing Active Directory (AD). This enabled a seamless transition where security permissions and user roles were inherited automatically, eliminating the need for manual configuration and ensuring that the platform was deployment-ready without disrupting existing IT governance.
Key features of the asset management solution:
Integrated Access Control:
Security teams leverage Zebra handheld scanners with native Active Directory integration to verify credentials instantly. This allows for rapid, secure asset check-outs and real-time identity validation in the field.
Dynamic Asset Lifecycle Tracking:
Using Zebra thermal printers, teams can check in and tag new assets the moment they arrive. The mobile scanning ecosystem allows for location updates and status changes from any point on-site, ensuring 360-degree inventory visibility.
Automated Notification Engine:
The system triggers real-time alerts for administrators and users regarding asset movements. Automated “impending deadline” notifications ensure timely returns and significantly reduce the risk of equipment loss.
On-Demand Reportage:
Administrators can instantly generate comprehensive check-in/out logs, low inventory alerts, and audit-ready reports. This data-driven approach provides a transparent, permanent record of asset movement and availability.
A transition from fragmented to a unified asset management ecosystem
The Result
The implementation of the AMS has successfully transitioned Nissan Dubaiβs asset management from a fragmented, manual process into a unified, high-performance digital ecosystem.
On-Demand Inventory Management:
By integrating the Clavis AMS, Nissan Dubai achieved an 80% reduction in processing time. The shift to an intelligent, digital-first system allows teams to manage, locate, and assign assets instantly, turning static inventory into a high- velocity operational advantage.
Precision Access Control:
Leveraging native Active Directory integration, the platform ensures the "right asset is in the right hands" through real- time credential validation. This has effectively eliminated asset assignment conflicts and closed security gaps at the point of origin.
Optimized Employee Experience:
The transition to near-instant processing has removed legacy bottlenecks, resulting in a 99.9% accuracy rate. By eliminating manual paperwork and administrative delays, field units are able to focus entirely on high-value operations.
Unified Backend-to-Field Synergy:
The solution provides 100% real-time visibility across all sites, bridging the gap between administrators and on-ground teams. Mobile check-in/out capabilities have removed the need for physical office reporting, fostering a leaner and more agile communication structure.
Impact by the numbers
From the moment a researcher uploads a project to its final publication and indexing, the system manages the metadata and version control autonomously, ensuring 100% data integrity.
